I have to confess that I am thoroughly enjoying the current daily story. Admittedly, the artwork is spartan, but the story is very interesting and amusing.

Fred Fredericks sure knows how to spin a yarn, and a good one at that too :D

Ditto! I felt the story was being stretched (time-wise, I mean) in the middle but now it's picking up again.

I thoroughly agree about the artwork, but most Mandrake stories are a pleasure to read, and this is no exception!

In addition to Fred Fredericks' nice nod to the Phantom movie slogan on Dr. Julian's t-shirt, the dialog is fun to read!

On 2 March, Dr. Julian tells Inga: Grab whatever looks expensive
They all look expensive!! pipes back Inga!

The dialog simply keeps on getting wittier!

He should've stuck to hocus-pocus and left the crime fighting to the professionals!! observes Dr. Julian after capturing Mandrake.

No need to insult him when he's down and out! Inga quips back!

Somehow, inspite of the rather uninspiring artwork, this story feels more dynamic than the current Phantom story!

Well, this story seems to be drawing to an inevitable conclusion.

The big question: will this be followed by another story?

This is how you tell a story!!! :D
4 Jun 05: Dr Julian says in Panel 2
Quote:
Ahhhh! Make-believe rain! Thank you!

But Mandrake replies in Panel 3:
Quote:
You're welcome... But it's not me! The rain is not make-believe! It's real!

Very humorous and engaging dialog, and I wasn't expecting this at all! This just goes to show that though the artwork is good, it can't salvage a miserable story, but a good and entertaining script can hold its own if the illustrations are spartan... The sketchy style of the current Mandrake strip is actually beginning to grow on me!!! :D

I completely agree. Plus, the story of a comic book/strip has always meant more to me than the art.

And yep, that panel was real fun! This story is quite good on the whole (although it did seem a bit dragged out with the Polar Bear thing).

The story finished on June 18. So I've just added a poll. I feel it is a good story, nothing exceptional, but entertaining and humorous.

Can't wait to see what will be the new adventure starting Monday! :D
