This topic has of course been discussed before on this forum, but I start a new post on it all the same.

I voted Phil Davis. I really enjoy his art. Just like Sy Barry, he drew people as they looked in the 50s and the 60s, which gives a really good feeling when you read his stories.

I know this may seem suprising but due to the fact that I have only seen one or two of Phil Davis stories, i actually thought they (drawings) looked similar to Moore's work. Dont know if anyone has the same opinion or not!!

Actually, depending upon which strips you say, it could have been Moore's work since Moore was an assistant to Davis before he worked on the Phantom.

Phil Davis' wife was a fashion design artist and she also assisted on Mandrake. Often the figures look a little stiff like fashion drawings.

As far as which artist was best, Phil Davis did a wonderful job drawing when original strips were larger and the reproduced strips were larger.
The detail in his strips was very nice and his rendering was very tight.
However, Fred's layouts are more fluid and to my eye, stronger in design. His action sequences are powerful, but the strips are smaller with less detail but have an almost painterly quality to them.

That couldve been the reason, im not sure if Moore was an assitant. It was one of the issues that Frew published back in the early 90s.
