Exactly what role did the Phantom have in this Beatles movie? Was he animated, or played by a real actor?

The whole movie is animated so I'm guessing the Phantom was too... but I don't know anything else.

It's an animated film, so technically the Phantom was animated, since he was drawn on multiple cels. However, his appearance was a cameo and he wasn't animated in asmuch as he didn't appear to move.
It looked more like a statue or bust of the Phantom that the Beatles passed in their travels.

Thanks both. I don't think I'll afford money on this film if the Phantom does nothing in it.

Yeah, he was just like a cardboard cut-out in the backround. I love that movie.

I thought that the Phantom bust was actually in the foreground. I also like this movie. It is a real classic as it is the Phantoms first animated appearance. 8)

Yeah, I'm quite sure it was a better one than Defenders of the Earth. Man, how bad that series was!

Mandrake is also hanging out in the background.

Only recently have I learned about this cameo. And I can´t see the capture. Looks like the link is broken or something. Could anyone re-post it?

Would not have a clue but the guy with the can looks like Chou Chan the guy who features in a few Phantom stories who is drawed like Charlie Chan. See my website for my information.

It could also be the guy in one of the Bond films who uses his hat to kill people, but I am not sure if that movie was made before or after Yellow Submarine??
